So, I managed to salvage a Toshiba Satellite (which, from reading the forums, doesn't seem to like linux very much) by replacing a broken screen and keyboard.
However, it seems that somewhere, one of my Windows .dlls corrupted, so I decided to go ahead and switch to linux.
I installed the latest version of Xubuntu on it, and it installed seemingly without a hitch.
However, while everything boots up fine, once I log in, it moves incredibly slowly. I've gone a half hour and I only have to black bars where the panels go.
thanks in advance.
