Q: What do you do if you're a bunch of bored lawyers from Ohio looking for a monster copyright lawsuit to be filed against you by the the big guy in Redmond?

A: You develop a Linux distro and name it Open Windows -> http://www.black-and-company.com/

So shall I pay the copyright every time I open my windows at home? :p

No, really I would never use the word Windows for a Linux OS.

When I saw the thread title I thought you were talking about this (http://www.reactos.org/xhtml/en/index.html).

Interesting. Seems to be a county-government sponsored distro!

Perhaps the beginning of an Ohio counterpart to Guadalinex?

Have you noticed that Microsoft hasn't tried anything with X.org, even though the name "X Window System" might conflict with their precious trademarks?

Why is that?

Why hasn't Microsoft gone after X.org? My guess would be that since the X Window System dates back to the mid-1980s, MS knows they haven't got a chance in Chaos of winning.

Bingo :P

Though in this case MS does have a VERY strong case against OpenWindows. Even myself thought for a split-second that MS had changed its ways. They will have to rename it. You can have a Windows knockoff without calling it Windows anything, just look at ReactOS

Probably because X1 was released June 1984 and Microsoft Windows 1.0 was released in 1985. If they sued X.org, maybe X.org would win, and Microsoft would have to change it's operating system's name !!!
