First time poster here...

I'm building a new rig and am planning on dual booting (vista + ubuntu). I plan on getting either a 74gb raptor or a 300gb raptor for my os and apps install and a secondary hdd for my data (music, photos, movies)...

My question is, assuming I'm probably going to be dipping into ubuntu quite a bit (my first time) and trying out many different apps available for it, what's a good amount of space I should set aside on the partition?

For ex.,

74GB - ~37GB for Vista, ~37GB for Ubuntu (Would I run out of space for apps? Or should I allow more for Vista since I will be installing games and other apps?

Also, on the secondary drive I assume that is where I would put my /home directory. Can I easily do that during the installation? And what exactly is saved on /home?

Thanks

What are the sizes of applications in ubuntu, and would 25GB be enough if I went crazy with it?
