Hello mates.

My dad just got a brand new Acer 5620z, ordered a CD and we try to install it live over the phone (b-coz i live far away). My thought was to get it somehow installed and connected to internet so i can do the rest through VNC.

now before everything he boots when the CD is inside, sees some text like extracting ubuntu kernel and some other stuff. the last line he sees is:

mounting root system
and that's where is hangs, no menu whatsoever.

I assume the CD to be ok, as he loaded it already at the Desktop computer and received the autostart Ubuntu menu for Windows.

any ideas what is wrong?

thank you

as i said, it did really run, so terminal access is not available
BUT i found that code from just the same model, comparing it to what he has been told in the shop i think its pretty much accurate.

Use the Alternate CD. I hope you have 512 MB of RAM or more.

Some people have found success adding all_generic_ide to the boot line.
