I just ordered an Asus F6V laptop. It comes with 4 GB of ram. I know 32bit Linux can utilize this much, so is there any other incentive for using 64bit?

This is my first foray into linux. Will finding drivers and troubleshooting be more difficult in a 64bit linux?

Hi and welcome, I am not familiar with that laptop but I would suggest 64bit. Since I installed the 64bit I have been happy with the performance and have no issues. :) You may do a search of the forums to see any issues.

I have heard of performance boosts with the 64bit OS and I use it at home on 2 computers and have never had any problems with programs. I would say it is pretty safe to use the 64bit

Hi,
I have too Asus F6V with 3G modem built. I have problem with sound on 8.04.1 32bit, 64bit and 8.10 alpha5 64bit. No any sound...
VGA is OK under 8.04.1 but not good under 8.10 alpha5 64bit. Wifi work for 8.10 alpha5, but don't work under 8.04.1 ...
