Can't change the amount of workspaces

I right click on the workspace switcher, go to properties, and change the numbers. No matter what I do, the amount of workspaces never changes. Its like the program doesn't care what number is there, there are always only two work spaces.

try removing it from the panel and logging out..then give it another go?

Did you try in General options > Desktop size?

Tried that. Also tried rebooting. Doesn't work...very odd.

do you use compiz? theres a setting in there to but if you changed it in hte panel i owuld think it would have changed.

I had a very similar issue to this when using effects so it might be related.

well i dont keep compiz on and dont htink ieven have the manager isntalled anymore but i always got my workspace amount changed by changing it in compiz9wasnt ware you could change in panel)

i usually disable my compiz effects because of the problems they cause. sounds like a compiz error..possible in the desktop cube? I know you can set the workspaces there too, although they don't show up in the panel.

i beleive wherever it was you changed the number of desktops in the cube was what set the number of desktops. also the desktop wall mightve had it but it always chagned from the cube settings thing i think. so if oyu cna change the cube the destops should change (compiz does go ontop of hte gnome doesnt it)

In the compiz menu, go to the General Options at the top. Go to desktop size tab, and then Horizontal Virtual Size. what is the value for that?
