I've had my site for quite sometime and and think the look is kind of retro and I've started to look for alternatives to move my site to something more appealing to the eyes, and I decided to give wordpress a try, after playing around with a theme I like I setup a test site just to get some feedback and I would like to hear the opinions of some of the members here

old site: http://www.pctechtips.org

test site: http://pctechtips.org/wordpress

thanks

nice improvement. My one thought is that i dont like the gap that has "Home | your_ip | Web Design | Contact | Links | About"

I would move that content into the box above and then I would round the corners of the lower white section.

It would be like this:

| Red section |
\_____________/
Black
______________
/ White Section\
| |

A few suggestions, the 'recent comments' section. Personally I would move this down to the bottom of the page.

In your main menu, you have an item "your_ip"...this really doesnt belong as a main menu item...it's more of a site-footer item.

Reasoning behind this is that comments are not what visitors would be coming to read, these are something that is more of an after thought...something to be digested after considering the main content.
Putting them down the bottom there also gives them the space they deserve to be fully appreciated as readable paragraphs rather than squashed sardines.

if you get what I mean, everything has a place and deserves the proper layout to fully honour its purpose.

I recommend you keep alistapart.com bookmarked and make it one of your daily readings.

thanks all for the critics... one thing that was worring me when I first set my eyes on this theme was that it may be a bit dry or too simple ( lack of graphics design), but I opted for its nice colors and make sure its content was easily readable by the visitors, I think that's by far more important than eye catching... I did modify the original theme to fit my needs as the original you could barely read the letters, and had too much space dedicated to the sidebars (had 2 sidebards) almost half the page, and very little space for the main content(the posts) so most the changes was done in css, and that was pretty much it

here's the original theme, do you like this one better or the modified version?
