View Full Version : [ubuntu] No sound in Flash?

August 24th, 2008, 09:11 PM
The title says it all. I recently got my sound card working, and now everything except flash has sound. I think I saw something like this before, but couldn't find it in a search.

Do you listen to music (or use sound in any way) while trying to use Flash with sound?

August 24th, 2008, 09:28 PM
Nope. With no other programs running or any other sources of sound at all, there is no sound coming from flash apps.

Try using the new flash player 10 rc.

Tried that, still no sound. :(

Sorry for the double post, but I need to get this fixed. None of the previous things worked.

hmmm. have you tried a different browser?

August 24th, 2008, 11:08 PM
The only other browser I have is Epiphany, and that uses gecko, so the problem still exists.

i have heard of problems wth firefox and epiphiny trying to work together with flash and sound but not just epiphiny. have you tried to reinstall epiphiny. other than that i dont see what could be wrong (dont use epiphiny myself)

I uninstalled epiphany because I don't use it and I still have no sound.

I'm not sure this is a flash problem, because I was using integrated sound a couple days ago, then it stopped working once I started using my sound card.

did you run a hardware test on it and make sure everything was ok with it and it had no problems

August 25th, 2008, 01:13 AM
Ok, now I'm confused. In the sound prefs panel where I defined the audio device, I have sound. In rhythmbox, I have sound. In games, I have no sound. In hardware testing, nothing. What is going on!

do you have the proper sounddriver/ are ther any new updates for it. have you tried reinstalling the driver. 9after which make sure if you need to enable it you do)

I found a problem. The card only wants windows, so the driver won't work.
