View Full Version : What's your Internet connection speed?

Pidgin

I have a probably poor connection speed of 1 Mbit/s for my home, which is common in China. Deploying Ubuntu on two or three computers, lots of time is wasted on updating the system by downloading the actually same packages twice or three times. But I have seen few similar complaints. So I suppose your Internet connection is very fast and is able to accomplish the update of the system from a fresh installation in no time.
Besides a vote, it is appreciated to post your country or region, speed and fee here.
For me:
China
ADSL 1 Mbit/s DL 384 Kbit/s UL
About 11 USD per month
BTW: the Olympic Games has ended and I am so happy that we've got the most gold medals!

I have an ADSL connection that should get speeds up to 12 mbit/s, in reality it's around 7 mbit/s.

(around €65 ($88 ) and it comes with a nice 60 gb datalimit :( )

Cable connection with 8 Mbits DL 1 Mbit UL, and I do actually get that fast sometimes, even on wireless :) About 37 USD/month, but it would be more if we didn't get digital cable from the same company (it would be 47$ I think)

I currently have 8Mbps down and 0.5Mbps up. Shared with around 5 PC's (1 is a (web)server too).

It's not too bad, but when everything is online, it's around 1.5Mbps per PC

Edit: I have unlimited downloads too :)

I have 8 MB broadband from Tiscali for £15.- per month (London).
But unfortunately due to the kind of cable supplied in our immediate area, we are limited to 2MB only (same price as 8MB) ... according to Tiscali customer services.
However, tests at www.speedtest.net (http://www.speedtest.net) only show a maximum of 1MB, unfortunately.

Big, big surprise:

Before I put this posting up I made another quick test and the result was surprising:

http://www.speedtest.net/result/313157110.png (http://www.speedtest.net)

I promise that I have done tests many, many times and it never went over 900KB/s before.

Cool :)

Speed: 3 MB/s
Provider: Xs4all
Cost: €40

No FUP or whatever. If I had lived just a 200 meter closer to the village I would have had 8 MB/s for the same price :(.

Currently, 16000/1000 Mbps. But that's just because my 2 IPTV's are consuming some of the bandwidth (~4000 Mbps), so I'm left with 12000 Mbps.

My download rate is near to 1,5 MB/s and the upload rate near to 100 KB/s.

That's expensive. I pay € 30 per month for 6 Mbit/s ADSL + telephone (Tiscali) in the Netherlands.

It really frightened me when I heard that you had a bandwidth of 12000 Mbit/s. You could download the Ubuntu DVD in three seconds! Sounds interesting. But is there anyone daring to claim that it is not possible in the future? Have hope!

I have noticed that four persons had chosen "100 Mbit/s ~ infinity", but nobody has posted a speed in that interval. 100 Mbit/s is really an admirable speed, though incomparable to that "16000 Mbit/s" ...

I hate my country, Australia (more specifically my ISP). $50/month for 512kb/64kb ADSL and a 12Gb download cap. Actual speed acording to speedtest.net:

Not to worry though I'll soon be moving and will be paying the same for 20Mb/s Downloads (don't know the uploads) and 50Gb download cap.
