The question is, if anyone gets Windows, will they admit it on the forums?

I think the best windows by far was 2000 professional. It was fast like Windows 98 SE on older hardware, yet had many of the options latter put in the bloated XP. 2000 to me represents Microsoft at its prime, and few Linux's actually preform better than it. Lucky for me, one of the ones that does is Ubuntu.

"You are GNU/HURD. You feel like your life is incomplete. If you answer all of the questions you might get better results."

It seems you get this if you skip a question...

The first question I took issue with - You wake up 30 min. late and have to go to work, what do you do?

This answer was missing:

Find clothing (brief delay looking for least wrinkled choice), wash head/face, use deodorant/mouthwash, leave at once while shaving in car with an electric razor, avoiding traffic, people, and small animals on the highway and ignoring speed limits.

Anyone else do this?:D

Hello world!

New to this forum so I thought I might as well introduce myself. Slightly pressured by this forum itself, off course, since it said to me:

Hello renebe,
Our records indicate that you have never posted to our site before! Why not make your first post today by saying hello to our Community Chat forum.

However, I might not belong here at all, because:

http://www.bbspot.com/Images/News_Features/2003/01/os_quiz/windows_95.jpg

Hmmmzzzz.... not too sure I like that.

Anyway, my name is Rene and I live in the Netherlands. I'm a professional Progress 4GL programmer and recently became a "professional Unix/linux user", which means I can now type ls -l into a character sceen, and know what will happen too! Yeeeea!
My first computer was a Philips Videopac G7000 (sort of a slightly overgrown game boy avant la lettre). Then I had a Commodore 64, followed by an Amiga 500, an Amiga CDTV, a 386 and so on.
I programmed in C64 BASIC, AmigaBASIC, AmOs, PASCAL and Progress. Nothing fancy, though; I'm merely your below average hobby programmer. I would like to learn php, but haven't been able to install it nor mysql nor Apache yet.
At the office we use Win XP pro, at home Ubuntu 4 (I think); no dual boot :P.

I'm currently learning Russian. I like Star Trek TOS (duh), Blake's 7 and Space 1999, but we don't have a tv at home (sick and tired of all the advertisements).

Well, hope this settles as an introduction :).

ME came out after 2000

Yea, 2000 was before ME. They wanted to make a new non professional version of windows (like 98 and 95) so they take 98, add bugs and the look of 2000.

I got OS/2.

I've used it actually. It came pre-installed on an IBM PS Valuepoint that I got back in 1993 (25 Mhz, 8 MB Ram, 170 MB HD) It wasn't that bad an OS, it just never got the support it needed because everyone went to Windows 95 when it was starting to reach its potential.

Also even though the OS is dead, it will never become open source because Microsoft owns a portion of the the code. OS/2 was a joint venture between IBM and Microsoft but Microsoft dumped the os in favour of Windows 95.

Fun test with interesting results, I am researching Amiga OS 4.0 now.

looks interesting:

http://img59.imageshack.us/img59/441/workbench25hw.th.jpg (http://img59.imageshack.us/my.php?image=workbench25hw.jpg)

AmigaOS has spawned at least two "clone" operating systems over time.
AROS (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/AROS), or Amiga Research Operating System is an attempt to clone the AmigaOS API in a portable open-source operating system. Although not binary compatible with AmigaOS (unless running on 68k), users have reported it to be highly source code compatible.
MorphOS (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/MorphOS) is a PowerPC native operating system, originally created when the future of the Amiga looked uncertain. It provides binary compatibility with system-friendly AmigaOS applications. A version which runs on Classic Amigas with PPC accelerator cards has been released.
Although not strictly Amiga related, a fork of the FreeBSD (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/FreeBSD) 4.8 release, called DragonFly BSD (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/DragonFly_BSD), has been created by a former FreeBSD developer and Amiga programmer Matt Dillon (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Matt_Dillon_%28computer_scientist%29). DragonFly BSD aims to make the BSD core more like the Amiga architecturally, featuring a message-passing kernel and allowing for a very efficient and virtually mutex (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Mutual_exclusion)-free SMP design.
AtheOS (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/AtheOS) was inspired by AmigaOS, and originally intended to be a clone of AmigaOS. Syllable (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Syllable_%28operating_system%29) is a fork of AtheOS, and includes some AmigaOS and BeOS (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/BeOS) like qualities.

For those just joining us (or returning a bit confused) there were two nearly identical threads on this topic, both of which were quite old, although one was just resurrected.

I just merged them.

PS I took the test a third time...still Debian.

I took this a long time ago... and I got Windows Me :-( Sadly my 1st OS was Windows Me... then Win2k Pro took away those nasty BSoDs i got after exactly 5 minutes & 23 seconds after booting. I had to work quickly and save back then, lawl.

Heres what I got after doing it now.

I didn't know HP was an OS ;) they might as well say Linux if that ux == linux.

I knew I shouldn't have chosen "killer games" for great software and chosen "if I get windows ME, somebody is going to get hurt" at the end...

I wanna be a Debian GNU/Linux!!! :(

Stupid quiz. Not one question about open personality, sharing, etc...

edit:
You woke up late, and you have to be at work in 30 minutes, not enough time to complete your daily routine. Do you:
-Shower & brush your teeth, but skip shaving.
-Brush your teeth & shave, but skip showering.
-Shower, brush your teeth, and shave but ignore speed limits, stop signs and the Geneva convention driving to the office.
-Call in sick.
-Show up exactly 1 hour later than you're supposed to, and announce that today is your religion's Daylight Savings holiday.

My choice:
Put on clothes and leave. Eventually brush my teeth if I have enough time.
