Is art and design the same as software when it comes to copyright licensing?

Should people have the same freedoms with art/design as they do with GPL'd software?

What of the various Creative Commons licenses?

Anyone is free to put whatever license they want on their own product. There's no "should." Whoever makes the product gets to decide.
