Is there a way of how can I check my hardware? I want to check my memory chips (2 GB) to make sure that everything is ok.
Thanks.

Select memtest from the GRUB menu (menu that appears when you boot, you may have to press escape to see it) to test you memory. What other hardware do you want to test?

Thanks for replying!

I want to test the motherboard as well. I have dual boot (XP and UBuntu). So when exactly do I have to press escape ?

If you have a dual boot, then the menu should be displayed by default without you having to press anything.

Ok. But there are several things on the screen (in dual boot). Do I press on Ubuntu? Then how am I going to test for memory (memtest) ?

Sorry for asking a lot of questions.

Ok I saw the memtest as soon as it booted. I pressed it and the test went on. It took more than 4 hours! I watched it several times. There were no problems. The last time that checked the screen I saw that the computer was switched off. Is it normal ?

alternatively you can use memtest from the ubuntu liveCD
