View Full Version : [ubuntu] Possible workaround for 8.04 laptops with suspend/resume problems

August 22nd, 2008, 12:31 AM
I've had the standard problems with my laptop not resuming from a suspend. The mouse and keyboard are frozen and it usually only comes back after a hard reboot.

However, I seem to have found a work around for those who have a network button.

On my dell, there is a little switch by the LEDs that enables the wireless networking and bluetooth.

I've found it will reliably freeze if I leave the switched enabled (as in wireless enabled) and try to resume. However, if I switch the wireless off, close the lid to suspend the system again, and then reopen it, it will have regained the mouse and keyboard function, then its just a matter of turning the switch back on once the system is up and running.

Hope this can help some of you guys, or at least give clues to a work around.
