I've been hearing this for a couple of weeks, but today I saw some screenshots

I find this really exciting :)

This is one of the progresses made by the KDE team with KDE4 (one that most end users didn't notice).

This makes KDE development "easy" for other platforms, and even Windows or Mac. This opens a new market for Linux, with the mobile devices becoming so popular these days.

It's not, they have been developing in Akademy (that ended a couple of days ago).

You can follow some progresses checking out http://www.kdedevelopers.org

Well Nokia owns Qt so this was bound to happen.

VLC has moved to Qt as well.

Firefox is busy being ported to QT at the moment, http://browser.garage.maemo.org/news/10/

i can't see why it would not be real. you can install debian on the nokia tablets. however the default environment (debian based) has a very good interface that make it usable with fingers.

The only thing missing from nokia tablets is proper OGG supoort. (you can install a third party codec, but it can't use the multimedia accelerator, so it uses up the battery too quickly) https://bugs.maemo.org/show_bug.cgi?id=176 . It was nokia that got ogg taken out of the HTML5 standard. They have something against it.

Definately not. Nokia owns Qt and Qt is what is used to 'build' KDE. Nokia and mozilla are also working on a Qt version of firefox so expect to see that on phones in future as well.
