View Full Version : [kubuntu] Amarok engine / yauap question Kubuntu hardy)

Hi Folks

.. i've been googling for a couple of hours and still cant figure out why, although amarok-engines is installed and all the gstreamer/codec/demux goodness i have only the XINE engine selectable in Amarok ?
the xine engine stuff is ok mostly but on many other distros (esp PCLinuxOS) i have many more options in here, and have been using the YAUAP engine for a couple of years - this seems to fix the dreaded Amarok bug 'no suitable demux plugin' etc error.

i guess the amarok-engines is just a transitional package not really enabling any other actual engines. i hacked around and got pulse audio to show up in amaroks' drop-down, but back to alsa now (no simultaneous skype audio probs on alsa)

does anyone know why the YAUAP amarok engine or any other engines are'nt in the repo or what am i missing ?
or should i just compile ?

Thanks ..
