I've had two previous installations of Ubuntu on this laptop (Dell Inspiron E1505 with an "Intel Corporation Mobile 945GM/GMS/940GML Express Integrated Graphics Controller") and have installed 915resolution. On those previous installations, this worked perfectly and I was able to set my screen to the 1680x1050 resolution after installing 915resolution.

Now, when I boot, the Ubuntu login screen is in 1680x1050, but as soon as I log in, I'm down to what appears to be 1024x768. I have 915 resolution installed and 1680x1050 is an option when I try to set my screen resolution... but it does nothing... asking if I want to use the current or old settings while nothing has changed.

This installation of Ubuntu has been by far the most complex out of the 3 I have done... (it crashed while "generating locales" during the installation).. sort of wishing I hadn't done it. Any ideas on this resolution issue?

Thanks,

Jason
