Before, things like youtube played sound perfectly.

I then installed the mplayer plugin for firefox (so I could watch divx video files) and that worked. But now youtube has no sound for some reason.

I've googled the problem but nothing is working, and I can't say I fully understand what's being suggested.

And now, checking a divx video, that has no sound either.

Stumped.

(Also, please excuse that this is the third time coming here about a problem in about 2 days - I'm still working on suggestions in other threads, I've not forgotten about them I promise!)

- EDIT EDIT EDIT EDIT EDIT -

Okay, the problem is now - how can I have songbird running and still keep sound in Firefox? (Had songbird open - was stopping FF from using the sound)

- RAPID UPDATE -

Discovered that the problem was, I had songbird open at the same time.

So my question changes - is there a way to have Firefox AND songbird have sound at the same time?

Go to system -> preferences -> sound and switch everything to ALSA

That will do the trick.

It could be that this is fixed by flash player 10rc.

Install intructions for that here:
