I have complete 5 dvds of ubuntu 8.04 repositories
and using them for installing various packages now i want to
create mirror or repository of them so my friends in the college
could benefit from it .
Separate server machine in the LAN could be
dedicated for it
how do i make such mirror from these dvds as installing software through
internet is not possible because of bandwidth limitation

Sorry to take so long to post an answer.

We're not ignoring you. ;)

Check out my tutorial on creating DVDs from the Ubuntu Repositories. I believe a few posts consider this aspect of making the repositories available to others over a network.

I haven't added these details to the main tutorial because, while it is within the tutorial's scope, I do not have the resources to test it, tweak it and ensure it works properly. I'm a stickler when it comes to how a tutorial is organized.

Thank you for your post but i was not looking for this ,
i did a workaround myself by installing a ftp server and copying contents of dvds in
seperated folders and hosting them to the ftp server
i added the path to ftp server in apt sourses.list
now everybody in my lan can install software through this ftp server
