Hello. I've been trying to install Ubuntu 8.04 Desktop Edition on a Sun SunFire X2100. It has an AMD Opteron Processor. I get through the installation.
When I get to the part where the installer is supposed to format the hard drive and install, it will reboot. I tried both the 32 and 64 bit versions. Same result for both. I did try adding "acpi=off" to the boot options. It looked like it took, but the system still rebooted before installing.
I did leave the "-- " in the boot options and just added "acpi=off" to the end. Am I supposed to delete the "--" before appending options?
Has anyone experienced this, or better yet, know a fix?
