I have a NIS + NFS setup where each NIS client mounts a server to retrieve the home directories for the users.
At the moment these clients are Kubuntu 6.10 machines. As edgy is no longer maintained I need to think about upgrading to 8.04.
The home directories contain a lot of configuration files as part of the home directory structure. My question is, will an upgraded 8.04 client machine be able to work the same if it mounts the existing home directories which have the configuration files used with the 6.10 clients?
