Well, I went to see what deals had changed this morning...

Lenovo has a new laptop up, but their linux offerings seem to be gone from their site...

M$FT must've promised them copies of XP to remove them.

I WAS going to get a thinkpad this fall. With the price hike and the removal of linux, I may rethink my purchase options.

Me too! I had considered getting it a few weeks back, but I decided to wait. Looks like a Thinkpad is no longer an option for me then. Unless they come back, I'll get a Dell Ubuntu laptop.

I have a T61 and love it. I highly recommend it to others but I realize that they are more expensive. There is however a way to try to get out of the "MS tax". You can reject the EULA for vista when you get the laptop and then request a refund for the OS from lenovo. This has been done successfully with several vendors. While I have never heard of this being done with lenovo I have never heard of bad results when attempting this either.
