I installed Ubuntu along side Windows XP on an older HP Pavilion. It ran fine so I decided to do a clean install of Ubuntu. After formatting the hard drive I have made several attempts to install(ubuntu-8.04.1-alternate-i386.iso)but each time it freezes when it reaches:
Installing System
15%
Detecting files systems...

Can anybody please help?
Thanks

Maybe a bad burn. Make a new CD after doing md5sum on iso, at 4x or less.

Booted with XP cd, deleted the partition, then ran install with Ubuntu alternate cd. Selected entire disk with LVM and she is now purring like a kitten.:guitar:

Thanks
