Hi all people of this great forum :)

I'm looking at possibilities for automated installations, something along the line "insert CD, begin installation with some default values". Perhaps it is not possible to make it as simple as this, but anything automated will help.

I'm going to install Ubuntu on a vast number of machines, and anything that can reduce the number of actions from human side are welcomed.

The installation must run the text-based installer, since it's mostly older computers.

So, does anyone have any suggestions on how to do this, or where I can look deeper into the matter? One final note is that I cannot script or program.

You could look at using something like kickstart (https://help.ubuntu.com/community/KickstartCompatibility) or preseed (https://help.ubuntu.com/7.10/installation-guide/ia64/appendix-preseed.html) method. Here (https://help.ubuntu.com/7.10/installation-guide/ia64/automatic-install.html) is some more info
