I was interested in installing ubuntu on my laptop which runs on vista. i put in the free cd of ubuntu and ran the installer while I was in windows itself. I seleceted the option to install in the computer which has windows also installed. It installed and restarted back into windows. I finished checking my email on windows and then restarted to log onto ubuntu to complete the installation. thats when disaster struck. The installation process ran into errors and although I was in ubuntu, I could not fully use it. I had not set aside a partition for ubuntu and it installed into c drive itself!! Now I am unable to log onto vista. When I attempted to boot through the vista install DVD, it attempts to repair errors but cannot do so. I'm horribly stuck. If this problem cannot be soolved, I dont mind formtting but I want to recover some of my important documents before I do so. Please help!!!!

Can you boot a Live CD?
If so; post:
sudo fdisk -lu
