Of course, Ubuntu/Debian's repos are out of date, even with the kernel. I currently have 2.6.24-19, whereas the latest stable version is 2.6.26.2. My question is this: Since my current kernel has been installed with a binary package, can I still update it with the patch from kernel.org, or do I have to recompile the entire thing from source? TIA

EDIT: Nevermind.. I found the answer on another forum. I have to compile it from source in order to update, and there are great instructions on how to do so here. (http://ubuntuforums.org/showthread.php?t=311158)
