Just want to know what kind of music do you like, your favorite musician, and album/songs you're currently listening

Start with me, I like metal/progressive rock music, my fav artist such as Dream Theater, Yngwie Malmsteen, Siam Shade. I'm currently listening to Versailles, it's a Japanese Visual Kei band, they have similarity with Dragon Force and Dream Theater, it's my favorite artist right now :guitar:

For metal: http://ubuntuforums.org/showthread.php?t=829606

There was another poll on music (which had metal mixed with other forms of music the OP didn't know anything about, including emo) and I made that one for metal fans.

My music tastes are pretty broad, mostly I listen to metal, but I like a bunch of other types, pretty much everything but country, rap, and emo. Tried to embed my online playlist, but that failed... if you wanna take a look, got one embedded on my myspace. http://www.myspace.com/manincognito1984.

Its mostly Classic Rock 60's to the 90's. With Metal it depends. My favorites so far is ZZ Top, Led Zeppelin, and AC/DC. I listen to albums like Led Zeppelin II-IV by Led Zeppelin and Chrome, Smoke & BBQ by ZZ Top. Right now I'm listening to Sharp Dressed Man by ZZ Top.

I don't think I've ever heard "emo" music. (I assumed it was too hard to play instruments after cutting yourself. ;) )

Anyone have any example bands I could look up and get an earful?

It'd be easier for me to list the musical styles I don't like, as my taste is very eclectic. I won't do that though; instead, I will list a few of my favorites:

Classical -- e.g. Mendelssohn, Mozart, Haydn, Beethoven.

Jazz -- e.g. Duke Ellington, Thelonious Monk, Chick Corea, Miles Davis.

Rock/Metal -- e.g. Faith No More, Pearl Jam, Soundgarden, Alice in Chains.

Indie -- e.g. Rilo Kiley, The Cardigans, Elysian Fields, Mazzy Star/Hope Sandoval.

Pop -- e.g. Cyndi Lauper, Shakira, Christina Aguilera, Roy Orbison.

Avant-garde -- e.g. John Zorn, Mr. Bungle, Estradasphere, Secret Chiefs 3.

Prog-rock/metal -- e,g, King Crimson, Porcupine Tree, Frank Zappa, Pink Floyd.

Bluegrass/country -- e.g. Allison Krauss and Union Station, Chet Atkins, Tommy Emmanuel.

Prog/avant-jazz -- Masada, Trevor Dunn's Trio Convulsant, Ornette Coleman, Pat Metheny Group.

I enjoy (euro)dance, trance, techno, rave, oldskool music.

But my favorite genre is Dutch Style Hardcore.

My favorite dj(s) at the moment is evil activities and the masters of ceremony.

If you don't have an idea what hardcore is, it one of the, if not the, hardest style in electronic music. link (http://nl.youtube.com/watch?v=nl0Dsaf6RLA&feature=related).

Hardstyle, gabber, jumpstyle, trace, psy & goa, dance, idm. I especially like it when trance is mixed in with hardstyle, although I guess this is kinda happy hardcore albeit a bit different.

My latest thing is Deepforces - godlike. Amazing track! Shell Shokk is also just as amazing.
