im currently using a 14 inch crt monitor, this thing is frickin huge and takes up a ton of deskspace. just got my paycheck yesterday, so im looking for an lcd monitor, preferably widescreen and under $200, that someone can recommend me that has no big problems in ubuntu. Anyone suggestions?

Spend the extra money and get the Samsung SyncMaster 226bw. Gorgeous screen. Liked it so much I bought one for my wife. I paid about $350. I'm sure they are much cheaper now.

I would recommend Dell LCD Monitors.

I have a syncmaster 204B which has been a great screen for me. 20", they roughly go for $220 now.

Yes. Unless you find the dealer who ships them in in bulk and sells. Few friends told me such dealers exist but I dont believe it.
I am looking for a new LCD too but I will still stick with Dell despite their extra charge for shipping since there is no competition at least no where I live i.e. the competing products are not good enough.

Personally I would stay away from Dell's latest line of monitors. A few of them have had bad input lag in addition to the response time.

I say go with an LG. I have had 2 LG monitors so far, and never had any dead/bright pixels. They are reasobably priced as well =]

Idem dito.

I have been using a DELL 19 inch TFT screen for 4 years or so and it's still like new.

i recommend the new lg flatron monitors form newegg. 22 inch 2ms 10,000:1 contrast ratio extremely nice. I currently have one of the older ones and one of the newer ones running and i love them.
