In getting ready to go back to school in a couple weeks, i'm getting my computers ready for the hell that is college - so i'm going to try a few things to optimize my desktop which is running Kubuntu Hardy. I would like to benchmark the system itself, e.g. KDE as I go along to gauge the optimization (or de-optimization) results. Can anyone recommend a fairly straight forward benchmark application that will test the operating system itself (unlike the apps i've found while searching that test hardware, not the OS)? Thanks
