I have been trying to install the latest feebob on 8.04, and keep running into difficulties with the "make" command during installation. It will give me an error saying that there is nothing to make, what should I do?

If you are trying to install freebob I think you can install it from the ubuntu repo's via synaptic or terminal.

sudo apt-get install libfreebob0
If for some reason you need to compile it, have a look at the install or readme file, as this normally will explain how to install.

after trying that I ended up getting this error

E: Could not get lock /var/lib/dpkg/lock - open (11 Resource temporarily unavailable)
E: Unable to lock the administration directory (/var/lib/dpkg/), is another process using it?

That happens when synaptic or another package update, installation application is already running. In other words you can only have one package manager running at a time. So make sure you are only using one at a time either synaptic package manager, add/remove or apt-get.

That worked to get rid of the first error, but now I am getting this one.

E: Type '--21:55:33--' is not known on line 1 in source list /etc/apt/sources.list.d/medibuntu.list
E: The list of sources could not be read.

Any ideas?

open a terminal (applications>accessories>terminal) and backup the file

sudo cp /etc/apt/sources.list.d/medibuntu.list /etc/apt/sources.list.d/medibuntu.bakthen

sudo rm /etc/apt/sources.list.d/medibuntu.list
sudo wget http://www.medibuntu.org/sources.list.d/hardy.list -O /etc/apt/sources.list.d/medibuntu.list
sudo apt-get update && sudo apt-get install medibuntu-keyring && sudo apt-get update

Everything worked until the last string of code when I got this output:

sudo apt-get update && sudo apt-get install medibuntu-keyring && sudo apt-get updateIf you mean this line, you shouldn't have to as you have just reinstalled the mediubuntu keyring.
Open a terminal and run

sudo apt-get update All going well it should be all ok.
