thought you all might be interested in this court decision. In short, a previous court ruling was over-ruled. They now say that although the software was free, the copyright conditions must be adhered to (namely "users who modify software governed by its terms to document the changes in subsequent distributions and to attribute the original software to its creator") AND financial damages can be sought.

Personally I see this as a good thing. Otherwise greedy people could use and abuse open-source software until eventually it no longer exists except as a relic of a previous era.
