Ok... I have been trying to install Ubuntu on to my desktop computer but i am not able to get to the installer.

When i boot up the computer with the disc in I get the first screen with the menu for trying out ubuntu, installing, check disc, etc... but when i try use any of them it starts to load then goes to the BusyBox v1.1.3 and gives me an error something like
[93.2958539] ata1.00: exception Emask 0x0 SAct 0x0 SErr 0x0 action 0x2 frozen
then it has a couple other similar lines and starts repeating a couple times then does nothing...

I have also trying editing the boot options removed quiet splash --
it showed a message on there saying either driver sd or sr needs updating but I haven't even installed Ubuntu yet.

I have used the disc on another computer and it works fine.

My desktop specs are:

nForce 680iLT SLI Intel Socket 775 Motherboard
4gb ddr2 800mz Ram
2 SLI Nvidia 7300GT 512mb
160gb SATA HD
DVD CD-RW
