There is a clone of Shareaza called Panthera (http://www.pantheraproject.com/) that will sport a Qt4 interface! It's currently in alpha stage right now, but it's gonna be awesome!

Shareaza is similar to Bearshare, right?

Bearshare just connects to the Gnutella network (the network that LimeWire uses). Shareaza connects to Gnutella, Gnutella2, eDonkey2000, and it supports BitTorrent (rather poorly I might add).

Its past August, and the website isnt up-to-date. Is there any news on the release of this yet? Are people using a full release version? Ant screens of it in action?

There have been some Alpha releases on the Shareaza forum (http://pantheraproject.net/forum/viewforum.php?f=60). They won't make a more public release until it's really stable, because they want to make a really good impression, since scammers have given Shareaza a bad name by taking over the domain. Jerks.

According to a recent post on that forum (http://pantheraproject.net/forum/viewtopic.php?f=60&t=2792), this project is no longer being developed. Pity!

There is a project called Quazaa (http://quazaa.sourceforge.net/) that looks like it will fill the void nicely. It will be worth keeping an eye on.
