I cannot get my screen resolution to work with my widescreen monitor. I'm not connected to the internet on the computer which I am running Ubuntu on, and I am running version 7.04.

When I go to the screen resolution menu, there is no setting of 1440x900.

How can I fix this?

I know there were a lot of issues with this before we got the current version of x.org. I'd say your best bet is to upgrade Ubuntu. Both Gutsy (7.10) and Hardy (8.04) handle widescreen resolutions effortlessly as long as you have the right videocard driver installed (Besides if you are using ATI or nVidia you get a nice updated driver as well. On ATI the preformance gain is enormous compared to the old drivers.

ok cool...
I had been having problems with any OS until yesterday when my bud repartitioned my hard drive for me.
I thought i was seriously ruined when I found I couldn't reset the resolution, lol.
I'm getting the upgrade as we speak.
