Good morning everyone.

Last night I was attempting to install 7.1 x64 on my custom home pc. I booted to the CD, and ran the install option (Option 1 to Load / Install Ubuntu). The system runs a quick command, then the screen goes blank. Within seconds, my whole system freezes and I am faced staring at a black screen. I have no issues with installing the x86 version, but since I have an AMD 64bit processor, I kind of want to utilize it.

Here are my pc specs:
System Board: ASUS Crosshair
CPU: AMD 5600+ Athlon 64X2
RAM: 4G Matched OCZ
Video: nVIDIA 8800GTS
Sound: Creative SB XGamer

Any help I you all could provide would be great. Again, the x86 version runs perfectly fine. I just dl'd the latest version of the x64 OS, but I know that this issue goes back a few revs because it has NEVER worked for me. I'd just love to figure out what the heck is going on.

Thanks in advance.
