I had a few old Ubuntu diskettes hanging around and found this. I never knew that existed before! It is a very rare copy of the original desktop wallpaper that some say was designed by Mark Shuttlesworth. I was really amazed to find this.

Here's the link (http://lukjad007.deviantart.com/art/Ubuntu-Angry-Aardwark-1-04-94722466). Tell me what you think. The original has been replaced by this new one. My thanks to scragar.

You don't happen to have a copy I could use for my desktop(a bit of an edit to remove the old info, maybe the name. Possibly move the logo, but other than that I think it's a really cool paper and I want it), say 1280 by 1024?

The logo and words are so different to the background it actualy looks like they are some sort of extra content of some kind.

I don't get it  Why does it say 1.04??? There was never a Ubuntu version 1.04

It's always fun to look at old stuff and see how things ones looked, but I have to say I don't really like it.

Anyway, thanks for sharing :)

It's like an old photo of something. I was making a joke about how Ubuntu has come a long way. It's not meant to be taken seriously. ;)

The wallpaper itself is OK, it needs to be sharpened a little bit though, but nonetheless pretty solid.

I had to do a little bit of editing to get it to fit with the borders on screen(ofcourse cropping a chunk out of the middle about 48px high works wonders), looks fantastic(I also did a bit of cleaning up around the logo while it was in GIMP, just see if I could get it to look a little more like a piece of the wallpaper :P)

Sharpening, how? I'll give something a shot an you can tell me what you think.

Please post a copy of the desktop so that I can see what you mean.

To Codename: Just the background for now. Does this look more what you are looking for? Also, what resolution do you want?

k?

As I said, it's just a bit of copy paste and crop to get it down to 1280x1024 less 2 panels, top and bottom, it's nothing massive.

nice, but I don't like it enough to drop my current variation of pinky's paper. Maybe when I get bored of it in a few weeks I'll make a switch.

I actually understood the joke as this; Ubuntu has not come a long way theme-wise as it still have the same brown it had since the dawn of Ubuntu.

Yes, that is one possible meaning. My mom initially refused to try it simply because of the theme.

That's funny, my mom hasn't even bothered to change the theme. :lolflag:
