This is my first post and I have a minor problem; when trying to install my final update I get this message.

E: /var/cache/apt/archives/linux-image-2.6.24-19-generic_2.6.24-19.36_i386.deb: unable to make backup link of `./boot/vmlinuz-2.6.24-19-generic' before installing new version

I've been searching with no luck... can anyone steer me in the right direction. I've tried updating via the terminal and going right into the archive folder to click and install but it's still not happening for me...

Anybody think they can help me? It's happened twice since I re-installed Linux

ummm...try running sudo apt-get update instead. It may need root permissions

That did not work either. It starts to install then it says error mid-way through and wraps it up. Then a notification comes up saying Error:E: /var/cache/apt/archives/linux-image-2.6.24-19-generic_2.6.24-19.36_i386.deb: unable to make backup link of `./boot/vmlinuz-2.6.24-19-generic' before installing new version

Does anybody know? I feel like it's so easy but I just can't figure it out...
