Hi there, my fellow Ubuntuers.
I am one of those impatient people who doesn't like to wait to download another install CD to do basically the same thing as the one I have. Well, sometimes I do exactly that, but I just got especially impatient one day and decided to install regular vanilla (Gnome) Ubuntu on this old Compaq Presario that really can't handle Gnome very well. The idea was that I'd just switch over to Xfce (Xubuntu) after install. Now, I've got Xubuntu-desktop installed, but how do I get rid of the Gnome desktop? (BTW, I know that I should keep most of the libraries, and I'd also like to keep gnome-utils and some other things, I just don't want the full desktop on there as it will never be used.)
Also, I'd like to switch the boot-splash to Xubuntu. Please help me with that too, or point me in the right direction.
Thanks
