I am trying to install 8.10 on the computer I just built and I keep getting hung up... I can't seem to get past the cd check... I am installing the 64bit alternate...
When I get to the cd devise check it is asking for me to install the date through a floppy drive (I do not have a floppy drive)... I have installed Ubuntu on about 25 different computers before and never had this issue, so I am going to assume this is Mother Board related?

My specs are as follows:

GIGABYTE GA-EP45-DS4P LGA 775 Intel P45 ATX Intel Motherboard
XFX PVT96GYDDU GeForce 9600 GT 512MB 256-bit GDDR3 PCI Express 2.0 x16
SAMSUNG SH-S223F DVD Burner
Intel Core 2 Duo E8500 Wolfdale 3.16GHz 6MB L2 Cache LGA 775 65W Dual-Core Processor
Kingston HyperX 2GB (2 x 1GB) 240-Pin DDR2 SDRAM DDR2 1066 KHX8500D2K2/2G

Any advise would be great...

You want me to hit F6 when the install screen comes up?
In other words I boot from CDROM and then the ubuntu install screen pops up you want me to hit F6 and when the screen pops up type in all_generic_ide at the end? Then try the install?

if you have this screen and select start or install ubuntu
then press f6 (other options) and type after the -- all_generic_ide and press enter

I am feeling really stupid now... lol

When you say select, do you mean hit enter to start the installation or just have it selected as the option you are going to choose after the F6?
