View Full Version : [ubuntu] video driver causing migraine

Noobe here. I need serious help. I am having display problems. Had to resort to windows to make this post! I am running an Acer Aspire 5000 with an SIS M760GX video. I have installed Ubuntu 8.04 X64 version. When a window opens it goes behind what ever is already open. You never know it is there if you are not looking at the task bar. It will not enable enhanced effects.

Now the BIGGEST Problem! It will only let me set refresh at 6ohz which gives me a migraine after about 20 minutes. I have to be able to get it up to at least 70hz. Ubuntu is no good to me if it gives me a migraine.

Someone out there must know how to fix this. I want to use Ubuntu, but unless I can fix this I will once again be a prisoner to Microsoft.

Unfortunately, I have not had much luck with nvidia and ubuntu, are you using 8.04?
Have you tried another distro?
