Hello.

Yesterday i enabled 'Proposed updates' in software sources, quite a few files were downloaded and google sketchup started working perfectly in wine!.

Been the main thing i missed from windows, sad i know :D

Google earth now works with a trick to make it sort out its file system and it works really well! :D

Ubuntu is running a treat and i cant crash if i tried.

So should i enable 'hardy backports'?
great names :lolflag:

I dont mind the risk i can get ubuntu working nice from install in about 3 hours without reading.

Excellent work.

I normally only selectively enable backports if I need something from it. At the moment, for instance, if I enable backports, I would get:

1) newest debian-policy
2) newest transmission
3) newest gimp

Since I don't need any of those, I won't enable it. Since you already fixed your wine problem with proposed-, I would recommend not enabling backports unless you know it will solve something. For instance, I will probably turn on backports by the time of openoffice 3.

Is there a place i can post my system config? would that help anyone? it was a dramatic improvement!

envyNg drivers blackened out my screen, use the closed driver now, it works well.
