I was staring in awe at apple's marketing skills. Everytime I look at their site, it makes me want a mac, even though, realistically i don't I'm happy with wot i have, for the most part :P. One thing I'm not happy with is nautilus, or in fact any one of the file managers.

I then look at finder (im not a fan). Although its generally a poor excuse for a file manager, it has some really nice features such as quick view. How difficult would it be to implement such a thing...?

Someone is working on an open source project called Gloobus (http://www.uluga.ubuntuforums.org/showthread.php?t=828774). I haven't played with it myself yet, but it may bring what you're looking for. I also saw there was work in progress to get the column view for Nautilus, plus I see KDE4 has that available in Dolphin. If you want tabbed file management you should check out PCMan File (http://pcmanfm.sourceforge.net/).
