Not sure if this is Xubuntu-specific, but did a 'normal' apt-get update && apt-get upgrade, now the system hangs before it gets to the login prompt. This was about 3 weeks ago, in case it was a version issue. The Xubuntu splash screen displays and the moving progress bar completes OK, then the monitor goes grey and the HDD light stays on permanently. I also cannot ssh in from remote to try to diagnose, so whatever has happened must come before it loads the sshd. I've no idea what to do about this, but really don't want to have to re-install.
