Log on Loop

Hey,

I just installed ubuntu 8.4 and got it at the log on screen. i typed in my user name keith (like that) and my Pass word (I don't car if people see it) dog and then it trys to login and then goes back to the log on screen Please help.

Can i make it log on by it's self and skip the pass word thing? is thats why it's doing it? this computer is more for my dad. thanks i can get in as fale safe tho

I have the same problem. I have to select failsafe GNOME to bypass it
