Upgrade to Hardy hangs...

ive recently had to wipe my machine and start again from the feisty livecd, and have installed that ok, and upgraded to gutsy directly afterwards with no issues.

However, when updating to Hardy, the files download ok, the installation starts ok, but gets to the bit where it says:

generating locales.....
en_au.utf-8...


and wont go any further.

Any ideas??
