How do i install my digital camera on ubuntu?

I did that but it isn't noticing it. ????

System > Preferences > Removable Drives and Media.
Is the box "import digital photos when connected" ticked; and what command is in the command box below?

What camera is it?

I just bought myself a shiny new dslr and when connected via usb no removable drive is mounted. However if I use gthumb (file->import photos) for example I can obtain the pictures...PTP mode rather than straight forward usb flash I think
