Using Hardy, and I use 7z.

When I right-click on a file, usually there's an option "Create Archive...", but the option doesn't show if I right-click on a .iso file. Instead I can open the iso as an archive (and that's fine and all, I like that) but I'd also like to have the option to zip the iso as well.

Anyone have any ideas?

You could open the archiving software first THEN zip the file up, instead of relying on the Nautilus menu.

Another option would be to use Nautilus Scripts to create a right click entry for archiving files the way you want.

Am I mistaken in thinking iso are already compressed?

Place it in a folder, then archive that folder

Yes you are, ISO's aren't compressed. They are disk images.
