Hi Guys

My girlfriend is using Ubuntu now for most of the stuff she does. The only thing is that she still has a Sony Mp3 walkman which is great for running with. I could get this working with a VM but this is a biut too much of a hassle and I know she wouldn't be happy with that.

So what we're looking for is an Mp3 player which is good for running with. So small, relativly splash proof, easy to change songs.

No for the hard part, she doesn't like iPods. I keep on showing how easy i find running with mine, but she won't have it. So does anyone know of a good Mp3 players that you could run with and that'c compatible with Ubuntu (and ain't iPod)!

Thanks

Rick

I'm in the same situation - No way I want an ipod!

I'll be watching the thread to see if there are any good alternatives.

creative zen. Mine has taken quite a beating (running, working, getting hit by a car (!), and everything else I could throw at it), and it still works perfectly. The bundled headphones are quite bad, as usual, but the player itself is very good and works nicely with ubuntu/linux.

thanks Iceni

which model do you suggest? all the creative zens look quite big and i think she may find that too uncomfotable to run with (only a short a...) ;)

iAudio 7. I've been running for it for about a month now, fits perfect in that little hidden running pocket.

It play flac, ogg, mp3 etc. Has support for lyrics, bookmarks and equalizer. Awesome sound quality. Comes in 4, 8 adn 16GB SSD. Drag and drop support. 60 hours battery life with mp3.

It's 100-150$.

creative zen.

+1
I got a 8GB Sony, but I don't take it for running. Instead I take my old trusty 1GB Creative Zen Nano. You don't need video players or anything fancy. And you don't need bajilion gigabytes for a 40min run!

Some of these players seem a little out of my price range.

I have been looking at the SanDisk Sansa Clip player - Has anyone used this player? What do people think?

Is there anything similar that I could "clip" onto my belt/shorts when running?

I got a sansa clip for my girlfriend and she likes it. It's very small and simple to use..and of course it only costs around $40 =) Oh yeah, works fine in Linux also..just drag and drop.

Creative Zen Stone.

Its small and can take a lot.

I've dropped mine for 2 metres, not even a scratch.

It acts as a mass usb storage device, that's always nice.

I payed €20 for the 1gb version ($30).
