About one in 3 or 4 times that I start gnome, I have a problem with the z-order of windows: new windows are hidden behind old windows. Not so much of a problem with the windows: I can move things around, but it is a problem with menus because I can't see them to use them.
Alt+Backspace cures the problem at the cost of my session.
Any ideas?
Slightly unusual things about my setup:
Compiz
Cairo-Dock
ATI's 8.7 Catalyst driver on a dual head HD3850 with bigdesktop
Flash beta 10.
I don't really believe it's any of these, because as far as I remember, the problem pre-dates any of these. But I've no proof because I haven't tried to triage the problem yet.
Thanks everyone.
