I just wanted to make a suggestion to the forum concerning laptops and how hard it is to get one that just works with Ubuntu and other linux distros for that matter. My suggestion is to create a Laptop Compatibility Review Category where persons may post their laptop specs, how well it works, what it needs to get it working, etc. you get the picture. This would make it so much easier for people to make better informed choices as to what laptops are worth buying. Really useful for the second hand shopper.
Well, if anyone thinks this is a good idea, make a post to this thread with your laptop triumphs or woes complete with all the specs.
Take this as the first laptop in the thread.
I recently bought a Toshiba Satelitte P10

For the most part everything works well. The only exceptions are the SD card slot doesn't work 'out of the box' and might work with some configuration (haven't tried it yet). I am also having a big problem with the Power Management, Startup, and Shut down as outlined in the post I made a few weeks ago. I am getting the BIOS error message on boot-up. MP-BIOS error: 8254 timer not connected to IO-APIC.

Oh and thanks.
