Taskbar not loading

Hi when i log in to ubuntu 8.04 my task bar does not load. It seems to be crashing. I think i have added a panel to it that does not work. I cant access any of my applications nor can i open system mon to try and find out whats crashing. So basicly when i boot up all i get is an empty desktop. Everything seems to work exept the task bar.

If there a config file for the ubuntu task bar? Is there a way to reset this back to the defaults?

I've seen this problem going all the way back to 6.06 and the only way I've been able to fix it is to remake the user account.
